Did you know that there is a plan to build an artificial surfing lake on the banks of the river Avon? The lake will generate over 70 waves an hour that break up to 10ft (3m) in height and will cost £5m to build. The plans have been submitted and are going through planning process. The technology behind the wave generation is being tested right now in Spain – here’s a video from the BBC science correspondent explaining how it all works.
