CSR Bristol road centre openingWireless tech firm CSR has opened a new facility for research and development in Almondsbury, Bristol. The new site will focus on strengthening CSR’s expertise in connectivity and audio chipsets, with work undertaken on software and digital design, system engineering and architecture verification.

On the milestones section of their website, the NASDAQ-listed company based in Cambridge boasted a $961 million turnover in 2013, as well as a roster of 2,146 staff. 33 of these staff members are already working in Bristol at CSR’s original R&D site at the Bristol and Bath Science Park, which opened in 2012. The new site in Almondsbury will support the needs of the current team at BBSP as well as facilitating future growth.

Speaking about the new R&D facility, Anthony Murray, Senior Vice President for the Business Group at CSR said, “At CSR we’re passionate about developing cutting-edge technology that helps our customers turn great ideas into market-leading products, and to do that we need to invest strategically in R&D.

“That’s why we’re opening this new, larger facility in Bristol. Bristol has a vibrant technology scene and with high quality universities that are developing the next generation of engineering talent on our doorstep it is a great place to expand our R&D capabilities.”
