Creative-England-logo-webNot-for-profit organisation Creative England is dedicated to the growth of creative industries and has recently unveiled a new ‘digital accelerator’ scheme.  Your SME, startup or early-stage creative digital company could be entitled to £12.5k of investment, mentoring from industry specialists, one-to-one business advice, desk space at the digital accelerator office and an opportunity to pitch to investors for next stage investment. Nice.

To qualify, your company must be under 2 years old and be based in either the North, the Midlands or South West England. Creative England will also only take on companies starting with an idea, a prototype or a working beta. Your entry will not be considered if your product has already launched.

Applications for the accelerator are open until 12 September, and up to ten businesses will eventually make the cut after a shortlist pitch to a panel over 29/30 September in Bournemouth. After successful applications have been chosen, the accelerator will run for 14 weeks.

The announcement of Creative England’s digital accelerator has arrived at an opportune moment – issues surrounding tech in Britain are currently taking centre stage, with the Digital Skills Committee recently established in the House of Lords in order to “consider information and communications technology, competitiveness and skills in the UK.” The committee recently ran a panel debate with speakers from McKinsey &Company, Virgin Media and BT, the proceedings of which you can view here.

Further information on applications for the digital accelerator can be found on Creative England’s website. To apply, you will first need to register an account.
