Plans for an artificial surfing lake in Bristol are heating up. The Wave: Bristol launches its Crowdfunder campaign on the 24 November in Bordeaux Quay.
The plans for the site were given the go ahead back in June, and now The Wave: Bristol is surging forward.
The campaign is designed specifically to help achieve their social objectives via The Making Waves Foundation and sustainability goals for the site.
As Nick Hounsfield, co-founder of The Wave, said back when the project got the greenlight: “We believe that The Wave will have a hugely positive impact on people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities in the local area, in Bristol and further afield.”
“We see an opportunity to take an exciting idea and make it a reality that is as life enhancing as possible for everyone, all ages, abilities and backgrounds”
Of the Making Waves Foundation’s core sustainable philosophy he adds: “The only way to predict the future is to create it ourselves. We see an opportunity to take an exciting idea and make it a reality that is as life enhancing as possible for everyone, all ages, abilities and backgrounds.”
Launch event
The launch evening at Bordeaux Quay will feature talks from Nick and Head of Sustainability Chris Hines MBE, as well as a £5 raffle with a chance to win a custom surfboard from Toy Factory Surfboards.
