As proud sponsors of the TechSPARK Techie Brekkie held last Wednesday we were thrilled to see so many lovely e-commerce people in attendance after battling the snowstorms in Bath.

The Brekkie offered an opportunity for e-tailers to discuss problems they’ve had with the technology available both in distribution of their products and with online hosting platforms and was a complete success with every seat filled!

Over 25 e-gurus showed up at The Guild where bacon butties and pastries were enjoyed as the discussion brought up insightful and interesting points to consider in the world of e-commerce.

Delivery, fulfilment and distribution

The Brekkie kicked off with a discussion highlighting issues e-tailers and customers alike face with the delivery, fulfilment and distribution of their products – a topic close to our Sendvia hearts!

“With more and more shops choosing to sell online, the need for a delivery and collection network became apparent”

With more and more shops choosing to sell online, unclear delivery times and online marketplaces predicted to be a huge trend in 2015, the need for a delivery and collection network became apparent.

Competition issues

Many local e-tailers mentioned that they find it hard to compete with multinational corporations who are able to offer shorter delivery times, even up to a few hours from the time of purchase and state of the art technology which tracks the parcel’s location at each stage of distribution.

More brekkie than techie: Discussing e-commerce
is better with bacon sandwiches and pastries!

One solution discussed was Sendvia’s own Magento extension which offers a delivery service of choice. Customers are able to select their trusted carrier at a time and cost to suit them – e-tailers can even keep their current rates. With access to 100+ carriers we can also provide those much needed click and collect opportunities.

Customer retention

The Brekkie also highlighted the benefits of implementing user profiling technology to ensure the ultimate customer retention rates and proved to be an excellent networking opportunity which we are keen to continue.

Bristol-based Sendvia offers comprehensive worldwide delivery, leveraging its expertise to deliver your goods across borders, safely and quickly.

They will be organising another e-commerce Brekkie in March where the main topic for discussion will cover issues with e-commerce platforms.
