If you don’t already know, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po, collectively known as 90s children’s television sensation the Teletubbies, are returning to your screens this month. And the tubby custard-powered fun will be able to continue online for millions of fans, thanks to the creative efforts of Bath-based digital agency Complete Control.
“This project is about building a bright and safe digital world which captures young children’s imagination and helps them grow by exploring and learning”
Entrusted with bringing one of the world’s most successful ever TV shows to laptops and mobile devices everywhere, double BAFTA winning digital agency Complete Control is busy building the show’s global website, which is due to be launched early next year. In the meantime Complete Control has already made the highly addictive TeletubME, a video-sharing app allowing fans to turn them and their friends into dancing Teletubbies.
“The challenge has been to re-illustrate and redesign what’s seen on TV for the digital space,” says Complete Control founder Glynn Hayward. “It’s about building a range of digital products so children and parents can have fun and learn through the interactive content we’re making.”
The show has been updated and now the cuddly creatures are sporting more modern-day tech than just built-in TV screens on their stomachs. Nowadays those tellies are touchscreens and they have a new Tubby Phone.
Glynn is excited by the challenge of the relaunch of the Teletubbies: “This project is about building a bright and safe digital world which captures young children’s imagination and helps them grow by exploring and learning through the stories and adventures of the Teletubbies.”
“We can now proudly say we’re THE digital agency for one of the most successful children’s show ever seen.”
