Have you got a digital idea that can help transform retail in the UK? In a funding competition which opens today, digital innovation programme IC Tomorrow wants your help to solve one of 5 major retail issues. If you win you’ll get £35K to help develop your idea. You will also be given introductions to collaborative partners such as Barclays and Tesco to help you get your idea into the hands of people who can use it.

The five challenges are wide-reaching – so whether you have an innovative solution for people to virtually try on clothes; or one to help reduce the 15 million tonnes of food waste the UK throws away each year; or one to help traditional markets embrace the digital age, or if you have a way to automate the buying of regularly bought consumables (e.g. washing powder); or an idea to bring the best online services into physical banks and stores – this competition is for you.

Challenge 1: Pioneering new ways to fight food waste

IC Tomorrow are looking for ways to tackle the 7 million tonnes of food and drink waste thrown away each year in the UK.

Challenge 2: Future of fitting

Do you have a solution to improve the process of virtual trying on of clothes and other goods to reduce the high returns rate experienced by retailers from online sales?

Challenge 3: Seamless shopping

Do you have a way to ensure consumer products that need to be regularly replaced can be done so automatically (or seamlessly)?


Challenge 4: Enhancing in-store experiences

Can your idea enhance in-store experiences by bringing the best of the online world into physical banks and stores?
