KPMG is embarking on an exciting new competition with a stellar prize. With The Best British Startup competition, four lucky mobile businesses will get the chance to pitch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), taking place in Barcelona from 27 February – 2 March 2017.

So why apply? Well, aside from the fact that the winners will get a fully funded trip to Barcelona, the opportunity to pitch to the best in the business at the world’s largest congregation for the mobile industry will be unparalleled.

“This competition gives us the opportunity to showcase some of these great companies to the global community”

Last year, MWC received a record-breaking 101,000 attendees, coming from over 204 countries and including over 5,000 CEOs. Such a huge platform provides an invaluable experience – so apply now, you have until 31 October to do so.

Showcasing startups

We caught up with Tom Fox from KPMG Tech Growth to tell us why it’s hosting this prestigious competition, “This competition gives us the opportunity to showcase some of these great companies to the global community.

“We are excited that they can use this competition to promote UK entrepreneurship”

To win one of the four coveted places in the competition, startups must pass four regional heats.

All entrants must give a pitch which they will be judged on, “each company will be given a total of 8 minutes on stage, 4 minutes to pitch followed by 4 minutes for Question and Answer with the panel.

“The competition will be judged by a panel of four industry experts. All applications will be scored under five categories with equal weighting to each. The categories are Pitch Quality, Disruption, Market Potential, Traction and Innovation. The decision of the industry expert panel will be final.”
