What if your home could keep your health in check? If you’d like to see the tech letting people with illnesses live more normal lives and which helps avoid unnecessary hospital trips, then get yourself down to West of England AHSN‘s and Enterprise Europe Network‘s event, Healthcare from your Living Room, in the Bristol Pavillion on 7 February 2017.

The day promises to showcase an array of ways to fill your household with assistive tech to make your life a little bit easier, show you why IoT beds are making a difference and explain how living labs are helping to create and design these systems – you can register now for the free event!

“With unsustainable pressure on hospital care there has never been a greater need to consider other care models”

With long doctor appointment waiting times and a lack of hospital beds, combining healthcare and tech has never been such a good idea. This is why Louise Hooker, organiser of the EEN matchmaking at Healthcare from your Living Room, wants to share the wonderful ways to make the most of your home with you.

We caught up with Louise to discuss her aspirations for the event. She tells us she hopes people come away with, “a better understanding of other care models and solutions, what international and domestic opportunities there are, enthusiasm to make things happen and a pocket full of new business cards!”

From the comfort of your sofa

picture-b2b-meetings-04This whole event has been inspired by practices in Denmark. Louise remarks that they’re incredibly innovative with their use of health tech and she believes the UK could benefit from adopting a similar mindset.

Unfortunately, you will have to leave your home to attend the event – but we promise it’ll be worth it! Expect to listen to a range of talks about health tech from the pioneering creators themselves as well as lots of networking.

Lousie tells us more about what’s in store for you: “People will hear about the very latest welfare technology and assistive living innovations from leading Danish and UK healthcare technology leaders and get to meet the most cutting-edge Danish companies.

“You can also take part in pre-arranged  1-2-1, 20-minute meetings, showcase solutions, discuss challenges, share knowledge and expertise and meet potential commercial and project partners.”

Louise believes that discussing health tech has never been more relevant. She says, “With the global demands of an ageing population, the NHS stretched to its financial limits and increasing, unsustainable pressure on hospital care there has never been a greater need to consider other care models,  learn from international initiatives and explore opportunities to collaborate.

“With connections being made at the Week of Innovation and Health in Odense last October and interest from the Danes to visit the UK it seemed obvious to seize the moment, get organising and set out to deliver a very healthy event!”
