“VR and AR are new and exciting technologies, with the potential to disrupt almost every industry over the next decade”
Ben Trewhella (pictured left), CEO at VR firm Opposable Group and co-organiser of VRWC, tells us: “VR and AR are new and exciting technologies, with the potential to disrupt almost every industry over the next decade in the way mobile has over the last 10 years.
“While hosting VR World Congress, we’ve watched and worked with many early stage companies who are building and adapting their products, finding their customers and business models, and identifying what they need to grow their companies.
“At the same time, the South West has grown as a technology cluster, which has created and attracted investors who are keen to take advantage of new opportunities.
“Driven largely by people asking us to do this, we feel it’s the right time to put the companies and investors together by hosting an investment pitching panel with Silicon Gorge, TLT and TechSPARK.”
Get involved
The competition is open to any VR, AR, MR and 360 content application or product looking for between £25k- £2m of investment.
Applications are open now until 20 March. After an initial review stage, the successful applicants will be asked to take part in a first-stage Skype pitch with a panel of judges on 29 March, before they select the final 10 to pitch to the room of investors on the day.
Plus, if you’re successful in being one of the final 10 you will also receive 2 free full 3-day conference passes to VRWC, so you can attend the conference and exhibition after you’ve pitched, and meet some more of your peers in the field.
