Researcher from around Europe are coming to the Bristol Robotics Lab later this month for the first robotics challenge for service robots in the home.

The tournament will be hosted in the BRL’s Personalised Assisted Living Studio which was recently certified for use as an ERL Service Robots testbed. There are nine categories in the competition, including vision processing and voice recognition.

The European Robotics League has local competitions in labs around Europe as well as “Major tournaments” such as RoboCup. Teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments (Local and/or Major) per year and get scored on their performances. Prizes for the top teams are awarded during the next year’s European Robotics Forum (ERF) which is in Tampere, Finland in March next year. Applications close on the 15 June and the competition takes place from the 26 to the 30 June.
