Bath Digital Festival – a 6-day celebration of all things tech in the city of Bath – is returning this October and this year aims to be more inclusive than ever, running on the theme ‘tech for everyone’. With an awesome line-up of events already coming together, this is your last chance to speak about the tech issues close to your heart – you have until the end of this week (30 June) to apply.
“We want to recognise and celebrate the diverse talent here in the South West”
Now in its fifth year, the festival has lived through the huge growth of technology and innovation in the Bath and greater South West region, with previous events showcasing everything from industry-leading speakers to interactive workshops and hackathons.
You can get an idea of what the Bath Digital Festival is like in its 2016 festival video below:
Commenting on this year’s theme, festival co-organiser Jim Morrison (pictured right), explains: “We’re committed to digital inclusion and innovation. As technologies change and advance, everyone is impacted. So it’s extremely important to us that this is reflected in the content and line-up of Bath Digital Festival in 2017.
“We want to recognise and celebrate the diverse talent here in the South West. We’re meeting with a range of schools, businesses, universities and professional groups to build an inclusive experience for everyone.”
“The Bath Digital Festival is a unique opportunity to connect with some the region’s most talented businesses and influencers”
The festival’s founding principal is to showcase the amazing people and projects that are going on in and around Bath.
Dave Kelly, Founder of Bath Digital Festival, adds: “We’d like to think that at a local level it provides inspiration to those working in, or hoping to work in, the digital and tech space. On a national level, we hope it’ll continue to promote the radical, creative and inventive people and projects that exist in our beautiful city.”
Competition time
If you are feeling creative, you can get a chance to win VIP tickets to the Bath Digital Festival by asking for and then doing something fun with a Bath Digital Festival sticker. The person who comes up with the most creative place to put their Bath Digital Festival stickers wins!

Get involved with the event
With a couple of months still to go, the festival organisers are looking for any and all help to make the festival the best it can be – be that sponsorship, volunteers for the event itself, event organisers or, as mentioned earlier, speakers – there really is something for everyone.
For anyone who’s interested but feeling a little unsure, Jess Docherty, fellow festival co-organiser (pictured right), says: “Go for it! The Bath Digital Festival is a unique opportunity to connect with some the region’s most talented businesses and influencers. If you have a great idea for an event, get in touch and we’ll help bring it to life this October.”
