As part of innovation festival VentureFest Bristol & Bath, digital business owner are being invited to Bristol City Hall on 12 October to learn about new UK Government incentives to help businesses get Gigabit broadband. This is your chance to get ahead of the game and learn how your business could benefit soon from a 1000Mbps connection if you are located within the Bristol City Council and Bath & North East Somerset areas.
“We’re delighted to be piloting this UK Government scheme here in Bristol”
The Bristol and Bath region is one of only six areas chosen to pilot the UK’s fastest broadband as part of a £200 million project. To get an idea for uses at this speed, full fibre broadband could potentially allow:
- hospitals to share HD quality graphics of medical scans in seconds to improve diagnosis speeds
- businesses to reach ever more customers online, increasing transactions by uploading even the largest files quickly and easily
- school classrooms to see a vast increase the number of pupils who can stream educational videos at the same time
In Bristol, the pilot initiative will trial gigabit connection vouchers for businesses. This will provide a connection package up to £3k to help businesses get gigabit-ready speeds and will be great for small, startup or home businesses struggling with their connection. These will also be available in the B&NES area.
Councillor Craig Cheney, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Finance, Governance and Performance said: “We’re delighted to be piloting this UK Government scheme here in Bristol, lowering the cost of getting gigabit broadband for local businesses and organisations. This will also benefit the wider economy of the city as gigabit connected businesses grow at a faster rate.
“I would urge SME businesses and organisations to join us for the event on 12 October to find out how they can take advantage of this limited offer.”
High speed collaboration
At the event, as well as giving you the chance to network with other digital business owners in the area, you will hear from people who already have Gigabit connectivity and the impact it has on their business, the options you have for your business and how to get the best out of those incentives.
You can register for the event being held at Bristol City Hall between 6pm and 8pm on 12 October here: Grow your business with gigabit broadband and do better digital business.
