When it comes to investing in tech and digital businesses, in the eyes of some, the gaming industry is thought to be a higher risk than other areas. The Bristol Games Hub‘s Game Investment Pitch Event, being held on the 18 October at the soon to be opened Bristol VR Lab, hopes to change all that by showing the true facts and figures behind game investment.
“The games industry is one of the few industries that is growing”
Wannabe games and VR investors will also be able to explore the broad wealth of talent in the South West by seeing pitches from games companies in the area.
Nina Adams, Events Coordinator at Bristol Games Hub (pictured left) tells us, “Despite the perceptions, the games industry is one of the few industries that is growing – it has a lot of government backing, funding sources and it is creating jobs. This event is to show investors that there can be good returns from investing in games.”
“In the past few years we’ve had a lot of games companies and also independent developers move here and we’re seeing a rise in local talent too. This event aims to connect them to those wishing to invest in the vibrant games market.”
Who should attend?
With 6 investors already confirmed, Nina tells us, “At the event we want people interested in how they can get involved in the games industry as an investor or at a senior level, or those companies who may want to take part in future pitching events and want to see how it’s done.” Places are limited however, so if you do want to attend, you better be quick.
