Northgate House, a historic Bath-based building just minutes from Bath Spa train station, will soon be home to hundreds of the city’s creative entrepreneurs as it is transformed into a brand new co-working space by Amsterdam workspace specialists Spaces.
“Bath is a sought-after location for many firms… with a thriving business and tech scene and fantastic transport links”
The 17,868 sq ft work hub, which is due to open in December 2017, is currently in the process of being transformed into a contemporary shared co-working space, along with meeting rooms and over 100 private offices across two floors.
Richard Morris Spaces UK CEO comments: “The beautiful city of Bath is a sought-after location for many firms, as it combines the cachet of a historic, upmarket location with a thriving business and tech scene and fantastic transport links. This makes it the perfect fit for one of our Spaces hubs and we’re excited to be establishing a presence here.”
Space for startups
Despite being a couple of months off its official opening, this new space has already attracted the attention of some of Bath’s creative and tech startup businesses, including digital collectibles startup Epics GG who will be one of the first companies to move into the new building in the next couple of weeks.
“Their set up is the perfect mix of co-working and office space”
Gavin Weeks (pictured left), co-founder of Epics GG tells us: “We are taking a reasonably sized office space of 8 to 10 desks – something that is not on offer anywhere in the city. Most office spaces available in the city are not straightforward to get set up and are generally aimed at companies looking for 40+ desks with the price per square foot set at extortionate rates.
“Spaces is a good idea for Bath because everything is included in the price. Although it’s more expensive than other co-working paces on a per-desk basis, it includes all the general day to day costs when stripped back. That’s all the costs and fees that would build up under normal circumstances through your power, internet, phone lines and insurance etc.
“Their set up is also the perfect mix of co-working and office space, so you have your privacy on a company level with the convenience of sitting out in the more social co-working area should you choose. And as an individual you have a great co-working community space.
“For my business specifically, the main draw is that it allows myself and my UK staff to make use of the Spaces office in Santa Monica where our other set of staff is located and vice versa. We can also make use of the offices in many other cities including New York and Berlin. So it’s mega convenient for us.”
