Bristol Technology Showcase has announced details of its forthcoming event to be held at Aerospace Bristol on Friday the 8th of November, home to the iconic Concorde. The Bristol Technology Showcase (BTS) is focused on emerging technologies and those themes encompassed in the 4th industrial revolution with a focus on how they will affect businesses and wider society as a whole.

BTS is a founding partner of the Bristol Technology Festival, an umbrella brand of technology events that are being co-located over the same week. BTS is aimed at business leaders, investors and influencers, BTS brings 1st class speakers who will talk about the impact and implications of new technologies on business, their people and their investment strategies. The event will facilitate multiple speakers, panel debates, interviews, demonstrable technology and innovation stands and an excellent networking opportunity.

Speaking about the event, BTS Director Nick Rutherford said “We’re delighted to be bringing a new discussion to Bristol and locating it at the home of Concorde. BTS has announced that Simon Beswick, International CEO of Osborne Clarke will deliver this year’s opening keynote, providing an amazing story of Bristol business, technology innovation and transformation.

Many other speakers are also announced including Giles Colborne, Founder of CX Partners and Dominic Hogg, Chairman of Eunomia. Additional speakers are available on the Bristol Technology Showcase website with further speaker announcements being made in the coming weeks.

In addition, the closing keynote will be delivered by Gerd Leonhard, Futurist and CEO of The Futures Agency and recognised as one of the top 10 futurists globally. Speaking about this year’s event, Gerd said “I’m really looking forward to coming to Bristol, one the UK’s leading tech hotspots and presenting in front of one of the most iconic engineering feats of the 20th century, Concorde, at its home in Filton, Bristol. It provides an amazing backdrop to look at how far we have come and far we will soon travel through the technology revolution in the 21st century. In addition to some of the speakers, many companies will be showcasing products and services and there will be plenty of opportunities to engage and interact with leading technology businesses and their products in our exhibition space, not to mention the ability to access advice on funding, markets, business channels, business growth, exports and more with Business West.

Upstairs in ‘The Futures Room’, leading companies will hold discussions on ‘The Future Of… ‘across a number of business sectors. We are delighted to welcome Amazon Web Services, XMOS, Ultrahaptics and CFMS amongst others to host these discussions.

Some of the key discussion themes will include:

  • an organisation’s relationship with consumers/customers;
  • corporate responsibilities in relation to the environment and how technology is supporting this;
  • how regulators and policymakers are dealing with advancements in technology;
  • communities that businesses operate in

BTS aims to provide attendees with new insights into how new technologies will create opportunities for businesses, competitive advantage and will help shape further thoughts on corporate risks, business capabilities and future organisation strategies.
