Maven Capital Partners (“Maven”), one of the UK’s most active private equity houses, has strengthened its UK investment team with a senior appointment in the South of England. Luke Matthews joins Maven as an Investment Director, bringing with him two decades’ experience in investment and corporate finance, helping potential high-growth businesses access finance.
This appointment further strengthens Maven’s SME offering and illustrates its commitment and ability to invest in companies across the UK regions. Luke will be responsible for growing Maven’s presence in the region, including increasing assets-under-management, sourcing VCT opportunities and MBO investments and deploying capital in high quality businesses.
Prior to joining Maven, Luke held a number of investment roles at Nova Capital Management and Connection Capital as well as enjoying a five year spell in corporate finance at KPMG. His experience in working with British businesses across the South has extended to holding several non-executive director positions in industrial, education, and manufacturing businesses in the UK regions.
Luke graduated from The University of Oxford in Economics and Management and holds an ACMT Diploma from the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Melanie Goward, Investment Director at Maven, said: “I am delighted to see Luke join the Maven team in the South. He brings a wealth of experience and his expertise in advising growth businesses at all stages of their development across a wide range of sectors will greatly enhance our offering in the region.
Luke’s robust and extensive network in corporate finance, private equity, as well as in industry, will further facilitate our ability to deploy funds to the most deserving businesses, as well as seek out opportunities for our VCT and MBO funds, private equity co-investment opportunities and provide strategic advice to existing portfolio companies.
With Luke on board, we have the expanded resource to reach out to talented entrepreneurs and local business leaders, offering the investment they need to help them achieve their growth objectives.”
Luke Matthews, Investment Director at Maven, said: “This is a very exciting time for Maven, having recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary. I am eager to bring my expertise in scale-up capital to the business’ operations in the South. It is a pleasure to be part of the expansion of one of the UK’s most active private equity houses and I look forward to our future together.”
