Innovate Bristol, the latest edition from Global Village Publishing, is a 360-page premium coffee-table book complete with augmented reality videos, showcasing all the people, companies, products, and services that are leading the race within Bristol’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. Innovate Bristol is also available as an e-book and an online platform, representing a network with a common goal of ensuring Bristol’s best innovations and innovation enablers connect and succeed.

“We’re immensely proud to share the stories of so many amazing people and companies currently thriving in Bristol,” says Natalia Rodríguez Novás, Innovate Bristol’s Associate Publisher. “Innovate Bristol is an authentic snapshot of the city’s innovation ecosystem, and it’s clear from participants’ stories why Bristol has been named as one of the leading tech hubs in the UK.”

Bristol, with its exciting innovation ecosystem, is the first city in the UK to join the international Innovate family. Bristol has established itself as one of Europe’s top cities for tech, and Innovate Bristol captures the people and companies that have made it possible.

The book opens with an original foreword by Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, followed by pieces from some of the city’s thought leaders, like Nick Sturge (Engine Shed), Briony Phillips (Engine Shed), Harry Destecroi x (Unit DX), Monika Radclyffe (SETsquared Bristol), Ben Shorrock (TechSPARK), Oliver Reid (NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator), Mark Probert (Newicon), Zara Nanu (GapSquare), William Britton (AutonoMe), Sado Jirde (BSWN), Sandeep Roy (Innovate2Grow), Richard Godfrey (Rocketmakers) and Markas Gilmartin (Brewin Dolphin).

Within the book’s industry-specific chapters, innovators and innovation enablers from all over Bristol tell the stories of their organizations. Most features are AR-video enabled, allowing participants’ stories to come alive on the screen of any smartphone through the Global Village App, inviting readers to learn more about those on the front lines of making Bristol a world-class tech hub.

“Bristol offers us a glimpse into the future. One where we can change lives for the better through collaboration and a support network who is genuinely committed to helping the city thrive. Bristol’s Innovation Ecosystem is proof that we can create amazing things when we work together and support each other.” —Natalia Rodríguez Novás, Associate Publisher

Those featured in Innovate Bristol were invited to participate after careful research into their contributions to the city’s ecosystem. By rejecting a “pay to play” model, Innovate Bristol can celebrate those companies and individuals that are actively working at building a better tomorrow for all, no matter their industry or size.

Carel “Callie” Van Graan, Global Village Publishing’s COO, possesses a similar wanderlust. As a serial entrepreneur with deep experience in marketing, branding, and logistics—and having traveled the world with his family—Van Graan is well-suited to bringing the Innovate series into being. “Global Village’s books always reward a closer look into the cities they feature,” Van Graan says. “Innovate Bristol is no exception.”

Innovate Bristol will be available for purchase through and in November 2019. The book will be showcased for the first time at this year’s Bristol Technology Showcase, on Friday, 8th of November at Aerospace Bristol.
