This month saw the culmination of a 3-month selection process to showcase the best companies in the South West, currently looking for investment, at Silicon Gorge Investor Showcase.
The 11 brilliant companies selected during the process won the opportunity to pitch to an audience of investors, both angels and early-stage VCs, as well as the local networks, to showcase their innovative technologies and ideas at the Showcase on 11th November.
The companies pitched for 5 minutes each to the audience of 90 investors, angels and ecosystem leaders. Pitchers fielded questions from a panel of expert investors including Jean de Fougerolles, Managing Partner at Ascension Ventures, Nina Searle, Partner at TLT, Peter Lockett, Head of BPEC Seed and Angel Investor & Lisa Matthews, Portfolio Manager at Jenson Funding Partners.
Jean tells us, “I was very impressed with the quality of businesses coming out of the Silicon Gorge Demo Day. I discovered some innovative new models, especially in the Sustainability and Next Gen Media sectors and we are following up more deeply to explore investment opportunities.”
The last couple of months have seen some big funding news across the region, as well as the £200 million fund allocated to the South West in the recent budget announcement, a cool £227m in equity investment has been raised by South West based tech companies in October alone. We’re looking forward to seeing which of these companies follow suit.
