The Silicon Gorge Investment Pitching competition returns for the 2022 Spring Edition, and offers an opportunity for Tech & Creative companies based in the South West of England and South Wales who are looking for up to £3 million in equity funding. It will offer 12 of these companies the chance to pitch to a virtual room full of investors and enablers of investment on 12th May 2022. Any investors interested in attending the final event on 12th May should contact abby@techspark.co to join the invite list.
This April will feature the pitching competition for up to 24 companies, in order to select the final 10-12 who will make it through to the Showcase. If you would like to see the pitches, you can find out how to attend either date here:
Alongside this year’s competition we’re publishing profiles of a few of the companies that have made it through to the semi-finals. Up first is Michael Calver, CEO and Founder of Amutri (pictured below).
1. What does your company do?
Amutri is a 3D Visualisation software product delivered via a Software As A Service (SaaS), tiered subscription model which automates the creation, hosting, and deployment of real-time rendered 3D Visualisations.
2. What problem are you trying to solve?
3D Visualisation forms a crucial part of the design, construction, and management of the world around us by conveying ideas, designs and finished products to stakeholders and customers. Whilst the technology brings proven benefits, it requires a substantial financial investment and hundreds of man-hours to deliver and maintain, posing a major barrier to entry for many people and organisations. Ultimately, this leads to reduced profit margins, wasted time and final designs of spaces and places that fail to meet the needs of end users.

3. What makes your solution unique?
Amutri dramatically lowers the entry point to 3D Visualisation through an automated, cost-effective and easy to adopt software product, enabling more people and organisations to adopt and benefit from the technology. For those already using 3D Visualisation technology, Amutri offers a solution that is hundreds of times faster and more cost-effective, whilst delivering greater value than current alternatives. Ultimately, Amutri reduces the turn around time of visualisation from days or weeks to seconds, and places the technology directly into the hands of users with no prior experience of 3D Visualisation necessary.
4. What are you most proud of so far?
I believe that our main achievement to date is the assembly of a highly skilled, hard-working and focused team.
5. How much are you raising and what do you want to use investment for?
So far, we have raised £115,000 in funding and are currently seeking £450,000 in investment. This is to speed up product development, protect our IP, launch and be first to market in Q4 2022.
6. What tools/people/services/organisations helped you most?
We have received a large amount of support from Falmouth University and Falmouth Launchpad, alongside their Entrepreneurs in Residence and connections across the UK tech ecosystem. The people who have helped us include, but are not limited to; Ben Sewell, Danilo Guanabara, Ellen O’Rourke, Dino Kovačević, Maik Ernst, Natalie Campion, Corin Mynett, Emily Devonald (kevri.co), David Lansdowne, Jeremy Sneller, Adam Sutcliffe, Stewart Noakes, Gary Egan, Steve Cox, Sam Burney, Alex Hughes, Colin Mitchell, Kerri Popperwell, Chris Hassall,
Adrian Scales and Alex Craven. We’ve also had a large amount of help with our recruitment from beta100.co, and their incredible team including Camilla Carrapatoso and May Ireland.
7. Where can we find out more about you?
There are a variety of different ways for people to get involved with Amutri.
We’ve just released our first micro-product; a free, simple-to-use online CAD & BIM conversion tool. Our tool speeds up the process of converting CAD and BIM files into 3D modeling software formats, ready for 3D Visualisation.
We’d love feedback on this tool, and our broader Amutri vision, too!
Give it a try here: www.amutri.com
This tool is a small piece of the full Amutri puzzle; next up for us is the launch of our MVP of Amutri. We’ve built a strong bank of early adopters to test and feedback on the product, but the more the merrier!
