Coding Black Females Announce the Launch of New 30-week Training Bootcamp, Return to Tech, in partnership with the UK’s Intelligence, Security and Cyber Agency, GCHQ, to Support Black Women Returning to Tech.

Coding Black Females announced last week the launch of Return to Tech – a 30 week bootcamp designed to actively support black women making a return to the tech industry after a career break.

Returnships are an initiative designed to support and sponsor someone’s journey back into their chosen career and over the years have proven to become more popular in the tech industry. Return to Tech offers a bridge back to work for black women in the tech industry who have taken a career break, by providing them with opportunities to refresh their skills and reignite their careers.

Coding Black Females are supporting black women on the bootcamp by providing access to high quality training plus supporting their journey back to tech employment. Successful applicants will be invited to apply for a Senior Software Engineer role at GCHQ. The role is subject to successfully completing GCHQs recruitment process and passing developed vetting.

The bootcamp starts on the 5th September and training will be in Modern Software Development Practices, Cloud Architecture and Technical Leadership and after successful completion of each unit, will achieve Cloud Practitioner, Solution Architect and MongoDB Certifications.

Those who meet the eligibility criteria below can apply:

  • Over 18
  • Based in the UK
  • British Citizen
  • Woman or gender minority
  • Black or mixed heritage
  • Previous experience working in a technical role with hands-on coding experience.
  • Taken a 1 to 7 year career break for parental leave, caring responsibilities, change or a break.

Coding Black Females is the UK’s largest network of black female developers. Since launching in 2017, they have been dedicated to building their community, providing opportunities to learn and supporting the community through a variety of initiatives such as mentoring, recruitment, events and workshops, training and development and bootcamps. Within the last five years, Coding Black Females have outstandingly and rapidly built traction in the tech community, designing over 10 programmes and bootcamps, gaining over 6.5K members, achieving over 150 events and a wider audience of over 25K globally.
