An annual football marathon that was held on Saturday, 25 June 2022 has raised over £7,000 for British-Ukrainian Aid.
More than 80 people took part in the event held at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in Royal Wootton Bassett, which saw six teams play nine hours of continuous 15-minute seven aside games. The event was sponsored by Swindon-based full-service creative agency GEL Studios.
“I am so proud to get this event back post-COVID and have to say a massive personal thanks to GEL Studios for sponsoring the event and allowing it to happen”
Despite each team giving their absolute best, the champions of the day were the yellow team who played fantastically throughout. They were lucky enough to lift the coveted 2022 Footy Marathon trophy.
The £7,000 raised from the Footy Marathon will be donated to British-Ukrainian Aid, which provides food and vital medical supplies to children and adults who have become victims of war and conflict.
Founder of the Footy Marathon, Andrew Clifton says, “The Football Marathon has once again shown what can be achieved when we all come together as one team.
“I am so proud to get this event back post-COVID and have to say a massive personal thanks to GEL Studios for sponsoring the event and allowing it to happen.
“I also would like to thank the teams who took part on the day, and those who have donated money so generously”.
Managing Director of GEL Studios, Graeme Leighfield adds, “At GEL Studios we’re all about making a positive impact and are really excited to be sponsoring such a worthy cause.”
The sponsorship comes after donating a dedicated website to Swindon Sisters Alliance a Community Interest Company based in Swindon Town Centre. They help families recover from domestic abuse and rebuild their lives through holidays and days out.
