Ghyston, a Bristol-based leading Software Development Agency, is celebrating a hat-trick of wins after being listed in the Top 20 for three Best Company league tables.

After reaching the 10-year milestone this year, Ghyston has now been named as:

  • The 6th Best Place to work in the South West
  • The 11th Best Technology Company to work for
  • The 16th Best Small Company to work for

So it’s super fitting Ghyston is partnering with Bristol Technology Festival 2022 to bring you People Day on Wednesday 13th October! Make sure to sign up for their event How can we retain talent in the South West? at 8:30am to discuss ideas on how we can tackle issues surrounding talent acquisition over some breakfast.

Gemma Comley, Marketing Manager at Ghyston, tells us, “These results are really important to us as they reflect how the team feels about working here, since the rankings are based on the results of a specialised b-heard survey.

“Questions were asked around eight key areas including leadership and management, opportunities for personal growth, wellbeing, and giving something back to the community. Best Companies have highlighted three aspects from the survey which made Ghyston stand out to them.”

Achieving best place to work status

It’s not the first time Ghyston has been recognised for creating a stellar workplace culture. Back in 2019, the team took home our SPARKie award for the Best Place to Work in Tech, so what’s their secret?

97% of the team agreed that they love working at Ghyston. Best Companies highlighted their regular Innovation days as one of the reasons why. This time to down tools to explore, learn or nail down something of interest, often with others from across the business is definitely something that makes all the difference

On top of this, Gemma says it’s important to Ghyston that no one has Monday morning blues. Line Managers have regular training to ensure they have the tools and equipment to support their team members. They also have access to online coaching for anyone who needs help with a specific problem. This is all paying off as 95% of staff agreed that their manager cares about how satisfied they are with their job.

97% of staff agreed their team is fun to work with. Ghyston puts a huge amount of time and effort into creating a team that is based on real friendships and understanding of each other. Their elected morale officers and employee lead social calendar full of inclusive and diverse activities, gives them time outside of the office to really get to know one another.

The insight from the survey really allows Ghyston to see where they excel and where meaningful changes can be made.

Emily Hill, CEO of Ghyston and winner of the Best Founder award at this year’s SPARKies, comments on the success: “We’re thrilled to feature so highly on three Best Company league tables! Having a great workplace has always been a key focus for us and the whole team works hard to make Ghyston inclusive, progressive and fun. It’s satisfying to see that we are doing a good job of it and very useful to get insights into how we can improve further.”
