We’re continuing to highlight some of the fantastic techie co-working spaces here in the South West. Up next is Bristol-based Clockwise.

Positioned in the iconic Generator Building, a Grade II listed building once home to the generator that powered the City’s tram system, Clockwise Bristol is one of the South West’s most beautiful workspaces. It’s an iconic local landmark with extensive views of the harbour, located in the Waterfront Quarter in the heart of Bristol. Open space for collaboration, private offices and meeting rooms support all working patterns.

We love the Clockwise space, which has hosted the last two SPARKies Nominations Parties to kick off our awards season.

Here to teach us more about this awesome workspace is Sam Vinicombe-Taylor, General Manager at Clockwise Bristol.

1. Where are you?

We are in the Finzels Reach area of Bristol, about 10 minutes away from Temple Meads Station. We’re right on the edge of the city centre next to Left Handed Giant and Castle Park.

2. How would you describe your space?

Our space is a mix between old and new. The building is grade 2 listed, built in 1899 and originally housed the generator engine for the tram network in Bristol. The building has a lot of character at the same time as having a modern fit that has brought it to the twenty-first century. It’s the perfect balance between old and new.

3. Who will I meet there?

We’ve got a range of industries within the building, from lawyers and recruiters, to game and graphic designers. The style of the building has attracted a range of different companies which has created a really nice melting pot full of interesting characters.

4. Can I bring my team? Do you have offices as well as co-working?

We do indeed. There are a range of different offices from 3-desk all the way up to 12-desks, with some overlooking the river. All of our private offices come kitted out with desks, chairs and pedestals. We have dedicated desks for solo workers and smaller teams, and the co-working area in the lounge for anyone else looking for a space to work from.

5. Is there somewhere for me to meet clients

There is indeed. If you are a member who is meeting with a client you can use the lounge area, our lovely breakout space, or one of our meeting rooms on the ground floor for something a bit more formal.

6. Do you run any events?

We run a host of events at Clockwise. Every month we try to hit three pillars, which are social, wellbeing and professional development. Our social events are always a great networking opportunity for everyone in the building. We once changed the ground floor into a mini-golf course, we’ve put a skittles alley in there before, and we’ve also had the more casual social drinks events as well. There are lunchtime learning sessions, breathwork & boot camps in Castle park all hosted by the Clockwise team. There is something going on every week!

7. What are the perks?

The perks are working in our wonderful space, the incredible Clockwise team of course, as well as access to discounts with our local partners. If you flash your Clockwise lanyard you can get a range of discounts at hotels, restaurants and street eats. Alongside that you will have access to our breakout spaces on every floor, our meeting rooms & phone booths, and the onsite cafe open from 8am – 4pm everyday.

8. What makes your space different?

We’ve got a real social buzz within the space; our events are usually attended by 60+ people so you get the chance to meet people from a variety of different industries because of that, and it is just a beautiful place as well.

9. How much is it to be based there?

If you are looking to co-work it will be £125 a month plus VAT. A dedicated desk is £300 a month plus VAT. And our private offices average around £475 per desk a month plus VAT.
