It’s officially pitching season, and in the South West, we have no shortage of budding startups worthy of a cash injection to kickstart their ambitions.

Next week, SETsquared Bristol’s Tech-Xpo is back for its 19th year to give 16 startups the chance to promote their innovative technologies to an audience of influential investors and business leaders.

With impressive alumni including KETS Quantum Security, world leaders in quantum cryptography hardware solutions, and LettUs Grow, a pioneering aeroponic technology provider for indoor and vertical farms taking home the prestigious award, we can’t wait to see who will be crowned this year.

If you’d like to come along as an investor looking for the next bright idea to support, email bristol@setsquared.co.uk for an invite.

Tech-Xpo 2023 is around the corner

Tech-Xpo is the flagship pitch, demo and connect showcase for the University of Bristol’s acclaimed tech incubator, SETsquared Bristol.

Eleven of the 16 companies are shortlisted to compete on the night for Best Elevator Pitch: Drift Energy, Gritty Talent, Infinifty, myCopilot.ai, Rosa Biotech, RouteZero, Senmag Robotics, Shelf Conscious, Siloton, SoleSense and Wilder Sensing.

The event, at Bristol Harbour Hotel, will represent a diverse range of sectors from healthtech to greentech, with a strong focus on tech for good. An invited audience of over 200 guests will have the opportunity to meet, collaborate with, or invest in new entrepreneurs driven to change the world.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring our remarkable startup community together with the wider tech ecosystem to network, collaborate and support the region’s most promising innovators”

Rosa Biotech will be amongst ten of the startups competing for Best Elevator Pitch. The University of Bristol spinout is transforming the lives of patients with its biosensing platform to detect life-threatening diseases.

“Following our recent fundraise, Rosa is at an exciting point in its development,” says Arne Scott (pictured right), CTO of Rosa Biotech. “Tech-Xpo provides the perfect opportunity to share our vision of earlier chronic disease diagnosis with investors, partners and fellow entrepreneurs in the South West and beyond.”

Last year’s Tech-Xpo winner, as voted by the audience, was inclusive marketing AI tool, Inclued. Previous winners also include Ferryx, that makes bacterial products capable of functioning during active disease.

Kimberley Brook, Director of SETsquared Bristol, tells us, “We’re delighted to celebrate a diverse range of innovation and talent at Tech-Xpo 2023. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring our remarkable startup community together with the wider tech ecosystem to network, collaborate and support the region’s most promising innovators.”
