The wait for Bath Digital Festival is nearly over! On Monday 10 July, we’re kicking off the week-long event with a selection of showcases, hackathons, and workshops for you to get stuck into.
Monday’s theme is Curiosity, Sponsored by MyWorld. It’s all about investigating the future and exploring new worlds. From science fiction to what’s in action already, using old tech in new ways, and forming an idea vs the reality of executing it. It could be crystal ball gazing, or demonstrating practical applications for exciting new solutions. Let’s get excited about the future, starting right now.
With such a jam-packed schedule, we’re sharing techSPARK’s top picks to help narrow down your decision making.

From Artificial Intelligence to Augmented Humans, Cyber Security to Communications – this is a morning for the curious, those working in tech, or just interested in tech.
Let’s look into the future, near and far, and meet the inventors and founders working on the ideas of tomorrow.
Lots of people approached us wanting to have a 20-minute event at the festival to showcase their new idea or solution – and so this morning was created – not only to allow our festival visitors to see all the ideas at once but also to allow the creators to have a space to collaborate.
We have new tech solution showcases from companies including Rocketmakers, Gravitywell, Fluff Software, The Intelligent Brief and more, plus student demos and pre-launch ideas needing your feedback.

How as a community of Bath might we address the digital divide in our city and ensure all our young people have equal access to technology?
At the opening of the festival, our first event will be an interactive workshop event bringing the community together to collectively map the Bath Digital Divide –
- What do we know about the problem – where is it, what is it, and what do we want to do about it?
- What is already happening and what can we do to accelerate what is already there?
- What can we do now, and for the longer term, and where do we need to influence?
This is a call to action for our teachers, local businesses, tech and charity sectors, local government, and philanthropists to come together as a community to apply ourselves to addressing the digital divide in Bath.

Experience your first taste of a career in tech as you learn how to use HTML, CSS and Javascript to build a simple computer game.

Also on all week...
Through the festival, Tech for Good South West is bringing together the tech community to address a digital divide challenge that has been identified.
This won’t be a competitive hackathon as we have a clear solution we are seeking.
One challenge we know exists already is access to the internet at home via an affordable, reliable and appropriate connection varies across our area.
Through a community hackathon during the week of the Bath Digital Festival, we will work directly with those affected and other subject matter experts, to identify the root causes and scope a solution to address them. e.g. this might include simplifying and consolidating fragmented sources of connectivity information such as coverage in BANES, where to access affordable broadband services and how to improve connection in the home.
