£6m Funding opportunity for the cybersecurity sector to go live in the new year

Get 16 January 2024 in your diary – funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, UK Research and Innovation will be accepting applications for their upcoming grant.

You can apply for funding to strengthen the UK’s cybersecurity research ecosystem and develop its people. Proposals should apply to the wide range of communities comprising this ecosystem. This funding opportunity aims to fund one NetworkPlus to strengthen collaboration, knowledge exchange, and skills across the various parts of the UK’s evolving cybersecurity research ecosystem.

Bristol firm secures £4.8m investment to lead UK space infrastructure project

iCOMAT announced it has secured significant funding from the UK Space Agency to form a new local cluster of research & development and production facilities, creating exciting new job opportunities, attracting world-class talent to the region and increasing accessibility of materials to businesses in the market. Once fully operational, the creation of the new facilities are anticipated to bring in an additional 60 roles to the region.

The University of Bristol spinout provides state-of-the-art, patented lightweight solutions through pioneering technology across the aerospace, automotive, and space industry.

University of Bristol spinout revolutionising dementia care receives £75k investment to bring SmartSocks to market

Milbotix’s groundbreaking SmartSocks® functions as a resource for aiding care staff in delivering psychological and physical support to individuals with dementia. Discreet sensors embedded in each sock gather data from the foot and ankle, providing indications of distress that prompt care teams to intervene faster.

As part of Milbotix’s recent funding round, it secured an additional £75k investment from Two Magnolias Venture Capital, raising the total equity investment to £513k. In addition to this, Milbotix has also secured non-dilutive funding totalling over £1m through schemes including Innovate UK’s Future Economy Programme.

State of Tech in Bristol & Bath Report to be recommissioned for 2024

Exciting news as more research, insights and data are to be collected on Bristol & Bath’s tech cluster. The 2023 report was concluded with actions and recommendations for the entire community to improve weaker areas. The next iteration will be able to review these findings and assess whether we’re making steps in the right direction.
