Join Nephelie Technologies and Bristol Digital Futures Institute for workshop
Nephelie Technologies, a Bristol-based SME, is developing wireless networking solutions tailored for time-sensitive and demanding video applications such as holographic telepresence and volumetric video production (VVP). The technology is appropriate for a range of sectors in including media, creative, gaming, virtual training, and manufacturing, among others. Sign up to take part here.
The primary objective of the nCOMM+ project is to illustrate how integrating a highly efficient wireless network with modern 3D rendering technologies, capable of generating detailed 3D environments, can yield a versatile and adaptable VVP solution. New innovation, skills & technology programme adds up for the financial services sector
A team of four leading universities (Bristol, West of England, Glasgow, and Glasgow Caledonian) has collaborated with SETsquared, FinTech West, and prominent industry partners to deliver a timely new business and innovation support programme for the sector, ‘Future Finance’. The programme aims to enable the financial services sector to adopt new technologies, strategies, and processes in order to unlock more effective product and service design, increase productivity and profitability, attract and retain new talent and clients, and become more sustainable and inclusive. Marty Reid, Interim Executive Director, SETsquared, says, “We’re excited about the potential to roll this out across the UK, as the impact extends not only to the companies it will support but also to improving and opening up access to financial services to the end user.”

Public lecture on International Cyber Security in the Geopolitical Age to take place at the University of Bath next week
The Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour are excited to announce one of the current Bath Global Chairs, Professor Dennis Broeders, will deliver a public lecture on ‘International Cyber Security in the Geopolitical Age’ on Tuesday 23rd April at 5.30pm at the University of Bath, Claverton Down campus. Professor Broeders is Professor of Global Security and Technology at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University. His lecture discusses in detail two overlooked players in international law and diplomacy: intelligence agencies and global corporations.

Urban Pursuit secures £55k investment to support more young people struggling at school
The investment from the BBRC-managed City Funds impact investment fund will enable the community interest company to take on a new operating base in Bristol’s Cumberland Basin and meet the growing demand from Bristol schools. It will also support the development of two new accredited vocational training courses at Urban Pursuit.
