As part of the Silicon Gorge programme, we’re catching up with the finalists to learn more about their origins, the problem they’re solving and why they’re looking for investment. Next up is Sophie Bailey, Co-founder at WorkTripp.

1.  What does your company do?

WorkTripp connects global teams, helping leaders create great offsites and onsites, unlocking £700k of team productivity through a scaleable, agile model of work.

2.  What problem are you trying to solve?

Disengaged teams cost $8.8 trillion in lost productivity; that’s 9% global GDP. In a world where distributed work is a given but the capital of in-person experiences has never been higher, modern workforces are struggling to find a post-pandemic operational foundation that optimises for business outcomes and sustains growth.

3.  What makes your solution unique?

With more offsites happening, as part of a distributed model of work. WorkTripp transforms how teams connect and collaborate. We leverage a research-backed model to facilitate a cycle of quarterly team gatherings that are engaging, meaningful, and directly tied to performance improvements.

The current market is dominated by event companies and marketplaces that focus on space, location, and logistics. They miss the crucial element—impact on business outcomes. As offsites and intentional team gatherings become integral to the new working operating model, there’s a critical need for a platform specifically designed to support this shift.

4.  What are you most proud of so far?

Our work to get the product designs and prototype ready for WorkTrippv2. We’ve developed this in partnership with our 50 strong beta community of COO/HR leaders weekly, and with our amazing product designer and developer.

It’s gratifying to see the output and how that’s unlocked 50% of our investment through a very clear product roadmap, and customer feedback cycle. I’m also always proud of my co-founder and her efforts to onboard new customers including our first subscription and enterprise customer. (The next product development is to productise our subscription offer).

5.  How much are you raising and what do you want to use investment for?

We’re raising £500k to develop our subscription product and demonstrate proof of value, taking us from our first paying subscriber, to first 100 subscriber users. In order to do this, we are recruiting a product manager, growth marketer and a developer.

Our approach will be a rapid prototyping cycle with our BETA community of 100+ highly engage COOS who are co-creating with us and want our product delivered. This will get us on the path to a full GTM and £1m revenue in 2025, and on the path to profitability to achieve our critical mission – to lead the market as part of the essential toolkit for the world’s best connected distributed teams.

6.  What tools/people/services/organisations helped you most?

In the early days, as a solo founder, SETsquared helped get me up and running. Meeting my co-founder was a real step change in terms of our business pace. Our early investors helped to get our MVP out. Our exclusive distribution partnership with Operations Nation was instrumental in developing sales. Our use of GPT has helped to scale with a small team. Our board and advisors has helped with reach and strategic partnerships. And, of course, none of it makes any sense without our customers! (Bonus shout out to my Husband also).
