Celebrating a wonderful Bristol Technology Festival
Bristol Tech Festival 2024, headlined by Ghyston, has successfully concluded, marking a significant event in our regional tech landscape.
This year’s festival featured 48 events and attracted over 4,000 attendees. Notably, we welcomed two government ministers and garnered a reach of more than two million people.
The enthusiasm and energy displayed by participants were palpable, signalling a promising year ahead.

Advanced materials noise management startup wins Tech-Xpo award
A startup that engineers advanced materials for sound and noise management has won Best Elevator Pitch at SETsquared Bristol’s acclaimed Tech-Xpo 2024 Showcase.
Gianluca Memoli, CEO of Metasonixx, delivered part of his winning pitch in song to demonstrate how the company’s patented technology has re-engineered everyday materials into innovative products that can manage noise and ventilation in the built environment.
To win the award, Gianluca pitched to an audience of over 100 investors and business movers and shakers, competing against seven other innovative technology companies across a broad range of sectors, from machine learning and AI to health and wellbeing.
The company is a spinout from the University of Bristol and Sussex. The academic collaborations underpinning its patents include a device that allows acoustic messages to be delivered to a single moving person in a crowd.
Founders Gianluca Memoli and Bruce Drinkwater joined SETsquared Bristol’s incubation programme in 2020 for coaching and support with business planning and fundraising.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise opens new Bristol site
Hewlett Packard Enterprise has officially opened its new Lake View site in Stoke Gifford, marking a new era for HPE in Bristol.
The new office will serve as a hub for HPE’s UK research and development (R&D) and engineering teams, accommodating over 200 team members driving innovation in the areas of storage, supercomputing, hybrid cloud and cybersecurity.
The new site includes a range of working environments, including labs, collaboration spaces and focus areas that are designed to maximise flexibility and wellness.
