This year’s Silicon Gorge competition spotlighted 24 standout startups from across the South West, each ready to scale and seeking investment to match their ambition.
With the pitches now complete, we’re turning our focus to the brilliant businesses that made it through to the semi-finals and investor showcase. In this series of founder profiles, we’re diving into the journeys, challenges, and next big steps of this year’s cohort.
Now we’re featuring: Michael Calver, Founder and CEO at Amutri
- What does your company do?Â
Amutri is transforming how organisations communicate complex built environment projects. The platform instantly converts engineering design data into interactive 3D presentations that run seamlessly in any web browser, with no downloads, plugins or specialist skills required.
There is nothing to install, no technical expertise needed and no waiting for files to render. Whether a team is working on a hydrogen facility, a next-generation SMR or a large-scale infrastructure programme, Amutri helps them see and share their work with speed, clarity and confidence.
Purpose-built for the built environment sector, Amutri brings advanced 3D Visualisation to entire organisations, making it a practical and accessible tool for engineers, stakeholders and decision-makers alike.Â
- What problem are you trying to solve?Â
Across the built environment, particularly within the energy and infrastructure sectors, teams face increasing complexity, tighter deadlines and the growing challenge of engaging diverse stakeholders.
Yet most 3D Visualisation tools remain tied to high-end workstations, complicated workflows and isolated departments. This slows communication and creates barriers between disciplines. Traditional rendering software demands time (weeks, often months), technical expertise and significant infrastructure to produce visuals that everyone can understand. As a result, key insights are often delayed, and shared understanding breaks down.
Amutri was built to change this. It removes friction from the visualisation process, enabling teams to communicate clearly and instantly, from engineering teams to executive leadership.Â

- What makes your solution unique?Â
Amutri is not just a rendering tool or a plugin. It is a fully automated, browser-native platform designed to support collaboration, not just creation. Files are uploaded directly and transformed into high-quality and interactive 3D presentations within minutes. These can be exploredÂ
interactively, shared securely through a link, and navigated by anyone. No downloads, plugins, specialist skills or powerful local GPUs are required. What sets Amutri apart is how easy it is to use, how quickly it works, and how well it serves the specific needs of sectors that deal with large assets, high-stakes decision-making and multidisciplinary workflows. It is built from the ground up for enterprise use in the built environment, with an initial focus towards energy, infrastructure and engineering.Â
- What are you most proud of so far?Â
We are proud to have built a market-ready platform that delivers immediate value in some of the world’s most demanding industries. Amutri is already in use on pioneering energy projects where speed, accuracy and clarity are essential. It has proven that 3D Visualisation can be instant, interactive and available to everyone in an organisation.
This is a major step forward for how large programmes communicate and collaborate. We are also proud of the team behind it, who bring decades of experience in 3D technology, product design, and enterprise software.Â

- How much are you raising and what do you want to use investment for?Â
We are raising £2.5 million to take Amutri into its next phase of growth. £500,000 is closing in early Q3, with the remaining £2 million scheduled for early Q4. The funding will be used to enhance our product further, expand customer success teams, and scale our presence across clean energy, infrastructure and adjacent sectors including architecture.
We are investing in immersive capabilities such as Virtual Reality (VR), integrations with enterprise systems like PLM, and features that make the platform even more useful in regulated environments. This funding will also support our go-to-market efforts in the UK, Europe and North America.Â
- What tools, people, services or organisations helped you most?Â
Amutri has grown through close collaboration with world-class organisations and support from a strong network of experts, advisors and accelerators. Strategic input from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Epic Games helped us shape our architecture and prepare for large-scale, cloud-native deployment.
Working directly with engineering and business units inside major infrastructure and energy organisations has grounded our development in real-world needs. We have also benefited greatly from innovation programmes and startup support networks including SETsquared Bristol, the NatWest Accelerator in Bristol and Falmouth Launchpad.
These organisations provided access to mentorship, facilities and guidance at key moments in our journey.Â
- Where can we find out more about you?Â
