University of Bristol spinout gains recognition for cyber security innovation
Bristol cyber security startup Hacktonics is gaining national attention for its innovative approach to training the next generation of cyber security professionals.
Founded by researchers from the University of Bristol, the company recently won the Cyber Den competition at CYBERUK 2026 and is helping address a growing skills gap in protecting critical infrastructure such as energy, water and manufacturing systems from cyber threats.

Drone manufacturer set to begin production in Swindon this year
Drone technology company Tekever is preparing to launch manufacturing at its new Swindon facility by September, marking a significant milestone in the town’s growing defence and aerospace sector.

Renewable energy platform expands portfolio with £46m solar acquisition
Renewable energy platform Finlight has completed the acquisition of two UK solar farms in a deal worth £46 million, with South West accountancy firm Albert Goodman providing financial, tax and VAT advisory support.

Production company behind major TV hits joins Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios
New scripted film and TV production company Panache Pictures has become the latest business to join The Bottle Yard Studios’ growing creative hub in Bristol.
Founded by producer Joanna Crow, whose credits include Netflix’s Seven Dials, BBC thriller Chloe and Supacell, the move further strengthens Bristol’s position as a leading centre for film and television production.
