Can you help out the tech for good community in Bath?
Often the problem when volunteering to help use your tech skills for good is ensuring your talents are being used effectively. To help with this Tech for Good Bath (a meetup for techie non-profits, charities and social enterprises) is holding a ‘Community skills and needs mapping‘ event to help future collaboration projects to flourish in the City of Bath and beyond.
“We will work together to map the available skills and charity needs within our very own Tech for Good Bath community”
It is part of tomorrow’s ‘Digital Good’ day of the Bath Digital Festival – a whole day devoted to using digital tech to make a difference.
There is clearly a great interest in people getting involved with the tech for good movement – there are 200 members joined up to the Tech for Good Bath Meetup alone – so this is a great way to ensure the skills available are matched to the projects.
Tech for Good Bath co-organiser Annie Legge (pictured left) tells us, “For this event, we will be looking at ways in which we can use technology for community and network building. Through the course of the evening we will work together to map the available skills and charity needs within our very own Tech for Good Bath community.”
Want to get involved? Annie says they are looking for “Those with an interest in the use of technology to create social change. Our meetups are designed to bring together digital skills with inspiring our local charities and community organisations with the possibilities in their use of technology.”
You can sign up here for the event being held tomorrow at 6pm at the University of Bath Innovation Centre: Community skills and needs mapping. You can also follow the Tech For Good Bath meetup on Twitter for news of upcoming events here: @techforgoodbath
