Creative Bath Business Bus Tour to show students the hidden gems of the city

The bus is taking students around for an exclusive look at the coolest and most creative offices in Bath
5th September 2017

Creative Bath is embarking on a unique type of city tour this Autumn. The team are in the process of organising a Creative Business Bus Tour of Bath, giving students the opportunity to have a sneak peek behind the closed doors of the most exciting local businesses.

“We’re a hotspot for creative talent, and of course, we want to attract and retain talented graduates to the area”

For students, this is an unprecedented opportunity – many would have never worked in an office before or understand the different environments; be it co-working spaces, larger corporations or small start-ups and family businesses.

Lucy Plummer, the Community Manager at Creative Bath, tells TechSPARK more: “The aim of the event is not only to give students a real insight into individual creative businesses.” She adds, “explaining about the culture and vibe of different companies as well as what they do is a really important real-world experience.”

Next stop: Bath’s businesses

Lucy says they have already received tremendous feedback to the idea: “We’re still putting together our final schedule, but we’ve got 10 fantastic local businesses interested in participating.

“In fact, we may need to split our tour into two events! Local creative businesses set to open their doors to Bath Spa University students include The Guild, Ready, Rocketmakers, MediaClash and Mytton Williams to name just a few.”

“Doing a tour helps raise awareness of these companies and the incredible opportunities there are for graduates across Bath”

This informal tour of the most creative and innovative businesses in Bath is not something to miss if you’re a student in the city.

If you sign up, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in the creative sector: “this tour is designed to give students a real insight into company culture, ethos, office decorum and generally for them to get a feel for what working life is like in Bath businesses,” says Lucy.

Welcoming the talent

It’s no secret that the tech and creative sectors are thriving in Bath. Lucy tells us, “Bath is the ideal place to tour creative businesses.

“The creative, tech and cultural industries actually bring more to the local Bath economy than tourism and retail combined. We’re a hotspot for creative talent, and of course, we want to attract and retain talented graduates to the area.”

Lucy adds, “Showing our emerging stars what local companies are really like is a great way for them to learn what’s out there in our city, for students and employers to make connections, and for soon-to-be graduates to gain real insight into the overall ethos of several key players in the area.”

Bath has so much potential that deserves shouting about; with the Bus Tour, Creative Bath wants to ensure all the hidden gems are showcased to the students.

“We have dozens of small to medium businesses tucked away throughout the city, and they’re not always visible. Doing a tour in this manner helps raise awareness of these companies and the incredible opportunities there are for graduates across Bath.”
