Simpleweb challenge event invites creatives and techies to hack into light25th January 2019
This time around the theme is ‘light’ – which is apt for this rather dreary time of year. Alice Whale Simpleweb’s Content Manager tells us: “At this time of year, light seems more important than ever. With short days and long nights many suffer from the winter blues.
“How can we use light to improve or enhance the human experience or the world around us?”
“So we thought we’d challenge the South West creative and tech community to hack into light by asking them the question: ‘How can we use light to improve or enhance the human experience or the world around us?’
“There will be prizes for the best ideas and we’ll fuel you with a warming meal, homemade cake, bottomless tea and a few cheeky beers and ciders. You just need to sign up and bring an open mind.”
Not just for techies
With inclusivity and collaboration at its heart, Simpleweb hack nights are not restricted to just techies and coders. Whilst attendees are welcome to play with code or hack into hardware, they’re also just as likely to get creative – pitching ideas or drawing prototypes. It’s also a great event for newbies, with the Simpleweb team on hand to help connect people with different skill sets into teams, making sure no one is left out.
Alice adds: “We’re really pleased to be working with Women’s Tech Hub again for our next Simpleweb Challenge night and have already opened sign-ups early to their members.
“At our last event, we were pleased to welcome some people who’d never been to a hack before (and still walked away with prizes!) If you want to know more you can read all about it on the Simpleweb blog .”
