Every year, International Women’s Day creates a moment to celebrate the achievements of women around the world. It is an opportunity to recognise progress, but also a reminder that meaningful change still requires consistent effort, visibility and advocacy.
In the technology and innovation ecosystem, the conversation about representation often centres on statistics. While these numbers are important, they can sometimes overshadow the powerful stories behind them. The women who build companies, lead research, shape policy, support communities and open doors for others rarely fit into a single narrative. Their impact is broad, complex and often quietly transformational.
At TechSPARK, we believe that one of the most powerful ways to accelerate change is through visibility. When people see individuals who look like them, who share similar backgrounds, challenges or ambitions, it reshapes what feels possible. Representation helps future founders imagine themselves starting companies. It encourages students to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering. It reminds organisations that leadership should reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.
That is why this year we are doing something different.
Rather than limiting our recognition of women in the ecosystem to a single day or week, we have chosen to spotlight inspiring women across the entire year of 2026.
Throughout the year we will be sharing stories of founders, investors, researchers, operators and community leaders who are shaping the future of technology and innovation.
This approach reflects an important truth: the work of women in our ecosystem does not happen on one day in March. It happens every day in labs, offices, startups, universities and communities. By spreading these stories across the year, we hope to create a richer and more sustained picture of the talent and leadership that exists across our region and beyond.
Our aim is simple.Â
We want to celebrate the breadth of contribution that women make to the innovation economy. Some of the women we feature will be well known leaders. Others may be earlier in their careers but already making a significant impact. Some will be founders building ambitious companies. Others will be enabling progress through investment, research, policy or community building.
Together, their stories form part of a much larger narrative about progress, opportunity and the importance of inclusive ecosystems.
International Women’s Day is an important moment to pause and reflect, but real cultural change happens over time through consistent action. By showcasing incredible women throughout 2026, we hope to contribute to that ongoing momentum, amplify voices that deserve to be heard, and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Because when more women are visible in technology and leadership, everyone benefits.
