Bristol-based Screen Time Labs, creators of the app that allows parents to manage their child’s screen time, has partnered with Australian firm Golden Circle (part of the KraftHeinz family) on a #SunHour campaign – to get more children and families active and outdoors.

The campaign encourages families to take their eyes off their smartphones and tablets and pledge active ‘sun hours’ through the Screen Time app, which Golden Circle is offering free to download during the project.
“The Sun Hour project puts family and an active lifestyle at the heart of its campaign”
Nick Merry, Screen Time Labs’ Marketing Director, tells us: “Our compelling motivation has always been to get kids active and re-connecting with their families. As a startup, our marketing has been largely viral and platform based via Google Play and the App Store using third-party endorsements to grow our fan base.
Screen Vs. Sun: the campaign offers parents free access to the
Screen Time app so that anyone can get involved
“The Sun Hour campaign with Golden Circle is a novel approach for us, bringing our app to a new audience through a strategic partnership underpinned by brand alignment.
“For us, values have been an integral element of our business and how we conduct ourselves which means that any partner is carefully considered on that basis. The Sun Hour project puts family and an active lifestyle at the heart of its campaign and we are delighted to be part of that.”
On your bike
As well as helping to get children off their tablets and outdoors – for every 2500 sun hours pledged, the campaign is donating a new bike to a child in need through its charitable partner, The Smith Family.
And with a million sun hours as the top line target, that’s a lot of bikes and a lot of potential for happy and active children.
“Families will not only help their own kids but we’ll be helping hundreds of underprivileged Aussie kids”
Golden Circle’s Group Marketing Manager, Darren Forde adds: “We believe that play and fun are critical to kids growing up happy, so we’re on a mission to get kids off their devices and outdoors by raising 1 million SunHours.
“It’s really exciting that families will not only help their own kids but we’ll be helping hundreds of underprivileged Aussie kids with help from The Smith Family.”
The #SunHour campaign runs for ten weeks from 2 October to 30 November 2016 across Australia.
