Here’s our chance to show off the Bristol and Bath tech cluster and its importance to the UK’s digital economy. The Tech Nation 2017 survey being run by Tech City, the organisation which accelerates the growth of digital businesses and skills across the country, will give you the chance to get your voice heard, and compare our region as realistically as possible with the other tech clusters in the UK.

What do I have to do?

Just by filling in the 15 question 10-minute Tech Nation survey, not only can you show off what the region is achieving in terms of tech and innovation, but you may find your tech company gets international exposure if the region and its companies are featured in the report.

Why should I do it?

Tech Nation 2016 provided the most detailed analysis to date of how the digital sector is driving economic growth, showcasing the innovation and energy of tech hubs across the UK.

nick-sturgeAs Nick Sturge, Director of the Bristol-based innovation hub, Engine Shed (pictured left), explains “The original TechNation report in 2015 massively raised the profile of the Bristol & Bath area by stating that it was the biggest tech cluster outside London. The next year’s report further endorsed the area by identifying it’s high productivity rates. These statements are really important in raising the profile of the area – nationally and internationally – not least by challenging the London-centric view of the world and giving us more credibility.

“The Tech Nation report has become a leading resource to showcase the depth and breadth of the UK’s digital economy”

“What does that mean? It means that we are considered more often as a destination for inward investment and that investors (e.g. venture capitalists in London) see Bristol & Bath investment opportunities in a more positive light, because the area is clearly vibrant and successful – and not a sleepy village.

“It also helps us all understand the strength, opportunities and segmentation of the cluster here,” explains Nick, “which allows the likes of TechSpark to deliver events and news that are more relevant. It also helps them, and others, attract sponsorship which in turns leads to more support available.“
