The directors of DNA Worldwide Group and other Frome-based businesses have launched plans to establish Frome Business Park. The Park’s offices will support an initial capacity of 250 people, with an increase of up to 625. It will also provide £15.6 million in economic gain per year and will inject £6.5 million into local annual economic benefit.
The town currently lacks sufficient office space. Despite a recent vote by the Sunday Times which named Frome the best place to live in the South West, a significant ¾ of those living in Frome work elsewhere.
“Having run a Frome-based business for nearly 15 years we struggled to find the modern office space,” says Frome Business Park Director David Nicholson. “Talking to other businesses it was clear we weren’t alone. Like many other companies, we didn’t want to leave Frome as we grew so we saw the opportunity to develop something different for businesses, working together with each company to support each other’s rapid growth.”
The Park will promote the development of a local business and tech hub in the South West, offering leased offices, high spec meeting rooms, wellbeing facilities, a café and the opportunity for tailored, custom built spaces for early businesses. The office spaces are designed for teams of 6 people and up.
Director Hannah Modern says the park will transform business and community within Frome: “the area is already thriving in many aspects such as the Frome Independent Market, and this building aims to deliver an opportunity for additional growth within the business community.”
This plan will see the regeneration of the former Tool and Gauge Building in Marston Trading Estate.
The plans to regenerate the building will be reviewed by Mendip District Council in mid-August. If successful, the park will be ready for use in early 2019.
The management team have a number of firms signed up and are encouraging any business to get in contact early before the building is full. Businesses interested in knowing more can contact the management team.
