The Bristol and Bath tech cluster has more meetups per head than any technology cluster in the UK – we believe it’s that connectedness, that support and that level of knowledge-sharing that drives innovation, and makes our region the best place to work in tech. So we’ve decided to highlight the awesome groups keeping us connected.
This week we’re running our questions past Pitch Me.
1. What’s your Meet-up?
2. Who’s it for?
Actually anyone who’d like to pitch! Whether you need to pitch to investors or customers in your role, it’s always good to have a bit of a practise, and not just in front of your mirror.
3. Is there any criteria to join?
Not at all. You just have to be able to stand in front of some people and talk about your idea/ product/ company.
4. What’s the format of your event?
We’ve deliberately kept the first event very casual, we’ll do half an hour of drinks and networking before starting on the pitches. It’s an open mic style so anyone can decide to pitch on the night, and pitches should last between 1 and 5 minutes. If the pitcher has requested feedback we’ll open it up to the audience for 5 mins of feedback and/or questions afterwards. However, if they’d prefer no feedback that’s ok too!
As always with meetups, they’re a collaborative process, so we can adapt the format as the meetup evolves and we know what would be most useful for people.
5. If you could invite anyone to your meet-up who would it be?
Anyone who wants to practice their pitch!
6. How many members do you generally have at an event?
We have around 25 people signed up this week at the moment, so nice and intimate.
(There’s space for around 10 more so pop along if of interest!)
7. What are some of the typical subjects you discuss?
Pitching, investment, product ideas, and how to present them!
You can sign up for this weeks, and look out for future Pitch Me’s on TechSPARK’s meetup page.
