ConnectionvouchergovukBristol been granted over £4 million worth of funding as part of a Superconnected Cities voucher scheme to help small and medium sized businesses with the cost of setting up high-speed broadband.

Bristol will be 1 of 16 cities in the UK to benefit from this scheme which came out of a £100 million Urban Broadband Fund (UBF) set aside by the government to support economic growth and jobs in the UK.

Bristol has already been experiencing huge growth in recent years with increasing numbers of small and startup businesses and is already considered as one of the largest tech clusters in the UK. Now, with fast broadband increasingly becoming an integral part of any tech business, these grants will allow many Bristol business to continue to grow and expand.

The Mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson, agreed: “This is a hugely valuable opportunity for the Bristol business community. Connectivity drives innovation and new opportunities which are essential to the success of our business community, and to build a strong sustainable local economy.
