After a year off, Bath Ruby conference is returning on the 22 – 23 March 2018.
The conference, which will be in its 3rd year, brings together a series of spectacularly informative talks inspiring hundreds of experienced Ruby developers, enthusiasts and newbie coders alike.
You can get a great idea of what Bath Ruby is like by checking out the conference’s 2016 summary video below:
With previous year’s seeing its audience rock out to music created by a RaspberryPi, learn how to make a difference by contributing to open-source projects and even how to get their heads round graph databases, it’s exciting to see that this year’s conference will be even bigger and better, with a new venue, more tickets available, as well as more talks – which will be held over not just one but two days.
“I really missed Bath Ruby in 2017 and it turns out a lot of other people did too”
Simon Starr Bath Ruby’s Founder and Organiser (pictured left) tells us: “I really missed Bath Ruby in 2017 and it turns out a lot of other people did too. The big difference for 2018 is the change from one day to two days. It’s still going to be a single track but we’ll have twice as many talks. Once again we’ll have a healthy mixture of technical and non-technical talks, with the aim of making people think and starting discussions about technology, inspiration and culture.
“Apart from looking forward to welcoming hundreds of Rubyists back to Bath, I’m most excited about the change of venue. The team at The Assembly Rooms have always been fantastic, but after hitting the capacity of 500 twice in a row, I felt it was time to move somewhere else. We’re not quite ready to make an announcement yet but there will be many more tickets available.
“Of course, part of the reason I started the conference was so I could see my favourite speakers without having to travel anywhere so that’s something else I’m looking forward to.”
Get involved
If you’re a South West business with a passion for Ruby then you might want to know how to get involved in this fantastic opportunity.
“I’d like to speak with any companies that would be interested in sponsoring the conference”
Simon says: “At this stage I’d like to speak with any companies that would be interested in sponsoring the conference. The support of our sponsors helps to keep ticket prices low, and having them lined up early reduces some of the pressure and will allow us to focus on making this the best Bath Ruby yet.”
If people would like to get in touch about sponsorship then they can email bathruby@rockfieldsystems.com. And anyone wanting to stay informed about the conference sign up to the Bath Ruby mailing list or follow Bath Ruby on Twitter here: @BathRuby.
