Adventure Time game ‘I see OOO’ and its themed Google Cardboard headset, a collaboration between Bristol-based virtual reality (VR) games designers Opposable VR, Bath-based creative agency Attention 2 Detail, Turner VR and Cartoon Network, has been nominated for a prestigious Children’s BAFTA award.
“It’s a great recognition of all the bold thinking and hard work that went into the project”
‘I see OOO’ was one of the very first VR games built for mobile devices and Google Cardboard and allows its players to explore tree forts and shoot at unsuspecting penguins across three fun and immersive mini-games.
Nominated along with the likes of augmented-reality app and worldwide phenomenon Pokemon GO, kids classics Spongebob Squarepants and Shaun the Sheep, this was one exceptional nomination representative of the top-quality game design and VR talent in the South West.
Ben Trewhella (pictured left), CEO at Opposable VR tells us: “It’s fantastic for Turner, Attention 2 Detail and Opposable to be nominated for a Children’s BAFTA. It’s a great recognition of all the bold thinking and hard work that went into the project.”
Collaboration in VR
Coming together in a truly collaborative fashion, this was a game that had multiple members of the region’s creative leaders working to build this popular game.
Ben explains: “It took 9 months of discussion, planning and prototyping between Turner, Attention 2 Detail and Opposable, before a development schedule was agreed upon and the VR headsets sent into production. The project came about perfectly, with a lot of focus on the project from Turner globally it was delivered perfectly.
“Opposable has been setting up and running the Bristol VR Lab and are planning our next VR World Congress”
Success for VR and games like this in the South West region is only the start too, as Ben adds: “Opposable has been setting up and running the Bristol VR Lab and are planning our next VR World Congress.
